“We need a kick ass, action oriented showcase for the launch of our new JRPG”
The main challenge was to get an epic-scale intro video to run over dialup at the time.
While that was playing (unskippable, of course) we loaded all the gameplay features, animated character designs, and gameplay demos.
All the art was scanned illustrations at 17×24 at 300 dpi, and we had to deliver it at under 250k initial download. In 1999, that was a pretty big ask, but we did it.
