“New Girl” Photobomb

Web promo for the “New Girl” television series by fox? Maybe it’s WB? I forget. Anyway, it’s a pretty typical web app– upload a photo from facebook, scale and rotate it to fit, then save it as desktop wallpaper or a facebook cover photo. Check out the working version (until Facebook changes its app permissions unexpectedly) here: http://www.newgirlphotobomb.com/

The programming aspect that was the most fun was doing the image uploading and resizing– you had to be able to change your “frame” from preselected scenes, which would reposition objects on the page to fit. All the image scaling, resizing, etc I did in ProcessingJS, to keep everything looking nice and UI friendly. This is the kind of thing Flash used to be great at. It’s still great, but nobody uses it. Besides, this thing had to work on iPads as well.

And finally you can save out your image as a facebook header, or wallpaper, or whatever.
